Congratulations to all of us for surviving the Fall Election Cycle!
The good news is that the majority of the new School Board in January will likely be in favor of stopping remaining school closures based on previous voting and campaign platforms.
THE NEXT TWO MONTHS ARE THE LAST BIG PUSH TO KEEP HILLCREST MS OPEN!
Two Ways YOU Can Help Keep Hillcrest Middle School Open!
1) ATTEND TODAY'S BOARD MEETING IN PERSON OR VIA ZOOM!
Board Meeting Today 11/30 @6p
At this Wednesday's Board Meeting, Director Hutchinson will be presenting a resolution to stop the school closures, which can be brought forward for a vote by the new Board President in January. You can see a draft here.
PLEASE ATTEND TONIGHT in-person or via Zoom. Parents and students can just listen or share your thoughts around school closures, you can prepare a one-minute comment. The general session begins around 6pm, with public comments starting around 6:30/7pm.
- In-Person:Great Room, La Escuelita Education Center, 1050 2nd Ave. (entrance at or near 286 East 10th St.)
2) TALK TO YOUR SCHOOL BOARD DIRECTORS!
Now is the time!
For those of you who live in Districts 1 or 4, we encourage you to reach out to D1 Director Sam Davis (Sam.Davis@ousd.org) and incoming D4 Director Nick Resnick (firstname.lastname@example.org) to ensure that your voice is heard as they prepare to vote in January.
Please Note – Expanded communication has been sent to parents of students in 5th-7th grades which includes Plan B activities (e.g., non-Hillcrest Middle School Tours) if Hillcrest MS closes as planned. For more information, contact parent June Sunwoo.
