Join us Oct. 29 for a Community Forum on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Thu, Oct 22 2:05pm

We have just begun our tenure as your Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion representatives on the PTA, and we would love to offer a space for the community to gather and connect on these critical issues before we move forward. Hillcrest started a process of directly addressing equity & inclusion issues last school year, and the events of 2020 have only highlighted the need to create a welcoming, inclusive and anti-racist environment, even with the challenges of remote learning.  This isn’t a workshop or training, but an information and discussion session to keep us moving on that journey. In particular, our hope is that input from the community will inform our goals with Circle Up and around our DEI work throughout the year.

The first half of the meeting is intended just for parents and caregivers; we will give you an update on where Hillcrest is and give you an opportunity to reflect on both where we’ve been and where we need to go next. In the second half of the meeting, Hillcrest teachers, and staff have been invited to join.  Alia Dolan, our mental health consultant, will share what she is working on with our kids and offer some ideas for parents as they continue this journey at home. We’re hoping to provide a chance for everyone to engage in an open dialogue and an opportunity to set the next steps in motion.

Please join us,

Rebecca Gitenstein
