PLEASE READ - At Home, Rapid Covid Tests available TODAY 12-4pm at OUSD Laurel Hub
Wed, Dec 22 10:51am

*** Sent on behalf of Principal McCormick and OUSD .  Please see yellow-highlighted paragraph below outlining how you can pick up rapid COVID at-home tests this afternoon from 3750 Brown Ave Oakland CA 94619 (OUSD Laurel Hub) from 12-4pm. ***

Dear Hillcrest Community,

Please see the most recent positive case notification below, for the additional cases we have learned about this week. As everyone is on winter break right now and the most recent exposure was the same date as the last notifications we sent, 12/17/21, there are no additional quarantines required.

If you are concerned about potential exposure, are traveling, or have anyone in the family experiencing symptoms, we urge you to take your family to test at district hubs that remain open today and Monday-Wednesday next week. We are setting aside a supply of at-home tests specifically for Hillcrest families at the Laurel hub today (Wednesday), from 12pm-4pm at 3750 Brown Ave Oakland CA 94619, with the entrance to the testing location on Patterson St.

Thank you for taking the time to get tested and stay as safe as possible this winter break--we know how stressful new cases can be. The quarantine guidance herein does not change from the previous notifications we have sent out, but we did want to notify everyone of the new cases and provide the information about testing above.

Please take care and reach out to sailaja.suresh@ousd.org if you have any questions. Our staff are working through most of the break to continue monitoring cases, testing, and vaccination status on behalf of our students.

Sincerely,

Maria McCormick

Dear Hillcrest Community:

I am writing to let you know that we received notice today that at least one member of our community has tested positive for COVID-19. They were last on site on 12/17/21. In the interest of protecting their privacy, I can’t disclose any information that might reveal their identity. This remains true even if the person who tested positive has decided to share information about their situation with others--the District itself still can’t confirm or disclose any other information about who they are or their positive case.

However, I can let you know that the Hillcrest campus has been regularly cleaned and specially disinfected in accordance with all recommended protocols, including CDC guidelines.

In addition, any individuals who were in prolonged close contact with this individual have been notified and directed to enter a full or modified quarantine unless vaccinated, in accordance with federal and state guidelines. If you did not receive such a notification, it is because we do not believe that you were in close contact, and you do not need to quarantine.

That being said, if you are interested in testing, you can sign up for testing at an OUSD testing site using this link, https://www.ousd.org/covidtestingappointments, or you can get tested through your healthcare provider or at a community site. It is recommended that you wait 3-5 days to get tested. Before testing at an OUSD testing site, please register with Primary: http://www.ousd.org/covidtestingregistration.
  • If your student is under 13 years old, they cannot get tested without parent or guardian consent
  • Email carapidtest@primary.health with any questions about the status of a Primary test

As always, if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, you must stay home.

Thank you
