Please Welcome Teaching Artist Ms. Cook
Tue, Nov 3 7:53pm
Dear Hillcrest Community,
I have bittersweet news. Some of you are already aware that one of our second grade teachers is moving away, and Ms. McCormick has asked me to step in as the new second grade teacher for the rest of the year. I am excited to work closely with this grade, but bummed to miss time with the rest of my students.
Luckily, my very close friend and outstanding artist/teacher has agreed to take on the art teacher role, so I leave you in capable hands.
Norah Cook and I met at an art studio for teens 20 years ago, and embarked on teaching as a career at similar times in our lives. She has a credential and Masters in Education from UC Davis, and I am confident that our students will have fun thinking, speaking and making as artists in her class. Ms. Cook and I will work together over the next few weeks and I'm sure she will put her own stamp on the art classes when she gets settled.
Please give her a warm welcome.
Ms. Ronley

Dear Hillcrest Community,
I'm very excited and honored to join your community. I am a social science teacher by training and have taught Economics, World History and US History at Vanden High School in Fairfield. I love art and have taught art at afterschool programs.
I live in Davis California with my husband, our son Owen and our cat. We like to garden and cook. I lived in Oakland for many years and used to work at Walden Pond Books on Grand Ave. I love Oakland and miss it dearly.
I have so much respect for Ms. Ronley and the fabulous way she teaches and engages with her students. We will be working together closely to ensure a smooth transition. I'm looking forward to meeting you all!
