Dear Hillcrest families,
If you choose to keep your children out of school during the upcoming teachers' strike (scheduled to begin this Thursday, February 21st), here are some potential resources:
1) Museum of Children's Art (MOCHA) Camp - 8:30 - 3:30, with pre-care available from 8:00am and after-care available until 5:30pm. MOCHA requires a head count of children planning to attend tomorrow in order to determine their staffing. They will hold open art studio activities until 1pm, regardless of the number who show up. But to schedule a senior art instructor for the more intensive camp classroom activities, they need 10-12 students (about six more than are currently signed up). If there are less students, they can accommodate the full hours of care, but it will be limited to simple activities and homework help (more like AT). If you’d like to have your child attend, please sign up as soon as possible. For more information, click here.
2) La Plazita Si Se Puede Day Camp - 8:45 - 3:00, with pre-care available from 8:00am and after-care available until 6:00pm. For more information, click here, and scroll down to the 'DAY CAMPS' section.
3) Oakland YMCA Day Camp (currently FULL, but you can sign up for the Wait List). For more information, click here.
4) Other parents - connect with other parents in your grade to share child care or identify other options for families.
This brief list of resources is captured in this google sheet. If you identify other possibilities that you'd like to share, please add them to the sheet. Note that the sheet will not be managed or curated. If you'd like to volunteer for that task, please contact me.
