Please read this important message from Katie Maniatis, former Hillcrest parent:
Dear Hillcrest Community,
I am a pediatric oncology nurse at UCSF Mission Bay and I wanted to share what we are going through at the hospital and how you can help during this crisis. Due to the COVID19 crisis, all Bay Area blood drives have been cancelled--creating a critical shortage of life-saving blood products in our community. Our patients continue to have high needs for blood product support hospital-wide; and providers have been told to consider the shortage when ordering blood products for their patients. If you are healthy and have not recently travelled, please consider going to a blood donation center to make a donation.
**American Red Cross: Oakland Blood Donation Center, 6230 Claremont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94618. To find locations/blood drives/eligibility questions: https://www.redcrossblood.org
**Vitalant (formerly Blood Centers of the Pacific): in SF https://www.vitalant.org/Home.aspx
Vitalant in SF, American Red Cross in the East Bay and Stanford Blood Center in the South are the major organizations. Their websites are the best resource for more information/scheduling appointments.
Your blood donation will save lives. Please help and spread the word.
