Thank You to everyone who purchased a PTA membership! With your help, we were able to secure 279 memberships for the Holmes Elementary PTA!

The drive has officially ended, memberships have been tallied and...we have 5 winners!! These classrooms all achieved 100% student participation! The winning teachers will receive $50 to spend on their classrooms and the students will receive a special reward...more details to follow.
Congratulations to:
Mrs. Curtis, 1st grade
Mrs. Nguyen, 1st grade
Mrs. Wadleigh, 2nd grade
Mrs. Celle, 3rd grade
Mrs. McTaggart, 5th grade
Thank you to ALL classrooms for working hard to encourage their families to participate-- we couldn't do it without you! If you didn't get a chance to purchase a membership, you can still join the PTA here: https://www.konstella.com/app/school/556e6485e4b065b45dbea502/sales-sheets/5f83c8c7c55a1f0f87dd36d8

P.E. with Ms. Welker
This week students are using their balloons from PTA. Please have them filled and ready for PE class. The best alternative if without a balloon is a plastic bag from the produce section or doggie waste bag. They are super lightweight.
Next week they will need two paper plates (or plastic).
In addition, it would be nice if you could make or help your child to make a scoop from a plastic gallon milk, bleach or laundry soap container for future use, as pictured below.

Dining For Dollars: October 23rd, 11am-9pm
Luna Grill: It's the PERFECT Friday meal. Healthy and something for everyone in the family! But if you still need some sweets - they do have yummy baklava! So mark your calendars...no cooking for you that night!

October is National Cyber Safety and Bullying Awareness Month. Six out of ten kids are cyberbullied. Six out of ten. But what exactly does cyberbullying mean?   Cyberbullying is when someone is harassed, bullied or threatened through an online platform. This behavior is persistent and ongoing, and for those on the receiving end, the long term effects are immense.  The San Diego Police Foundation is helping students and parents recognize the attributes of cyberbullying behavior and how best to combat it. To learn more and for additional resources, please visit their website today!
Notes From the Front Office:
Universal Forms: While we may think we are not going back to school, we just might! We don't know when, but these forms will need to be turned in before we do.  Please don’t forget to complete and submit the forms in the Holmes First Day packet. It’s important for us to have up-to-date and accurate information on all of our students. You can find the documents and instructions here:  First Day Packet.  Thank you to those who have already submitted them!
The 2020-2021 Federal Impact Aid Survey is on its way to you. This school year, the survey will be distributed via the United States Postal Service (USPS) along with a postage paid envelope in order for you to return the survey directly to the Impact Aid Office at the district. The deadline for returning is October 28th. This is very important, as each year the district earns a significant amount of income which can be used for any general fund purpose such as instructional materials, salaries, transportation, technology, or capital needs. Please be on the lookout!
Any questions can be directed to Miriam Jacobson: mjacobson@sandi.net.
