Dear Hoover Parents,

 

Sending this announcement about our Hoover School Site Council (SSC) body and make you aware of the upcoming nomination / election process for electing parent members of SSC for the upcoming two academic years. We need at least 2 parents for the coming year 2019-2020. This is an excellent way to contribute and volunteer for your child's school, with just a once per month commitment!

 

If you are excited to be a proud parent member of Hoover School Site Council (SSC) and can fully commit for the next two academic years (2019-20 and 2021-22), please read further regarding the SSC's role and member responsibilities.

 

SSC gives an exciting opportunity to observe the inner workings of the school and to deeply engage with other parent council members, teachers, Principal in rich discussions and in decision making on school wide important matters.

 

The Hoover Site Council is responsible for reviewing and approving the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA), a state program whereby schools are given funds to be used as determined on-site. It is also responsible for establishing school goals and approving the annual School Site Council (SSC) budget and other school wide and policy issues. The Site Council is composed of parents and staff members (including the Principal) each serving two year terms. Elections for parent members of the Site Council are held in the spring whereas Hoover staff selects the staff members.

Site Council members meet once a month on a Tuesday (typically second Tuesday of the month), from 2:55pm until 4:25pm at Hoover school. These meetings are open to the public and all are welcome to join. Also, these meetings are a great platform for extending communication and for providing feedback by sharing and discussion during ‘Open Forum’. Our next meeting is taking place on Tuesday, May 14 at 2:55pm in the Library.
