PTSA Meeting Link and Questions Answered

Good Evening Hugo Reid Families,

Thank you to all who attended our first meeting of the year both in person and on Zoom. Your participation really makes a difference!

Shirley Yee, our Board of Education liaison, generously spent her time answering questions for us this morning. She wanted to provide some follow-up information on some of those questions and here it is what she said:

"1)  In regards to having mandatory testing:  We continue to follow the CDC and Public Health guidelines on this and will continue to offer optional testing for families, which goes beyond what is required right now for all public schools.  We are prepared to ramp up testing if guidelines change and will keep families updated with our Covid-19 update emails.  If they have further questions, please have them contact me, Shirley Yee at
2) I also followed-up on why test kits were only at the AEC, and as Ms. Lauxen stated at the meeting, schools are not equipped or staffed enough to manage this process, the district also gets the test kits to the lab quicker when it is all dropped off at a central location, and most importantly, transmission of Covid-19 cases has not been on campus but from outside sources, and so minimizing the number of people coming onto our campus is also a priority for student safety.
3) In regards to Sanitizing/deep cleaning.  Currently under guidelines, crews deep clean and sanitize nightly, but not in between classes or recess.  However, schools continue to clean high touch areas such as lunch tables/ restrooms, door knobs, etc. throughout the day at all school sites."
