The PTA received the following email from Allister Chang, Ward 2 Representative for the DC Board of Education.  We wanted to share it in case any Hyde families were interested in applying to be on the Family Advisory Council.  Please see below for more information and direct any questions to Allister Chang directly (email at bottom):

I wanted to share an opportunity for Ward 2 families to have a direct voice in shaping education policy and programs in DC.

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE) is currently seeking applicants for its 2025-26 Superintentent's Advisory Councils (SACs), which includes the Family Advisory Council (as well as School Leaders Advisory Council and Teacher Advisory Council).

These councils meet regularly with OSSE leadership to provide feedback and insights on policies and initiatives that impact our schools.  OSSE is especially looking for: teachers from Ward 2 and family members from Ward 2.

The term runs from October 2025 to June 2026, and the first meeting will take place in person at OSSE in October.

Applications close Friday, August 8th, 2025 at 11:59 PM.
