It was great to see so many of you at last week’s Imai Picnic and at Back to School Night. Have you wondered why we keep emphasizing community events? Here’s what one teacher told us: 

“Community building is really helpful for parents and students alike. So often, students who go to play together at a PTA event start playing together at recess and lunch. The kids overall feel more confident and happy at school after a [community] event. The community building is essential and beautiful.” - Ms. Hinson, 1st grade teacher 

THIS WEEK’s HIGHLIGHTS:

• Fingerprinting Onsite (Tu Sept 17) at 8-9 am: A few spots are available, click here to check. Please make sure you have the appropriate forms prior to coming. Directions for the volunteer application process are available here at the MVWSD website. 
• 1st PTA General Association Meeting (Wed, Sept 18) at 7-8 pm on Zoom (register here).
  • Agenda items: Principal’s Update, 2024-2025 PTA Budget, MVWSD Board of Trustee Member to discuss Parcel Tax Measure AA, Questions and Feedback
• PTA Membership: Join PTA today! Popsicle contest ends in just ONE WEEK on Sept 21. Step-by-step instructions and Leaderboard for class Popsicle Contest below!
• MVEF Donation Drive: Donate to MVEF today! Check out this video to learn how MVEF impacts our students.
• Parents Night Out Help Needed:
  • Volunteers: We need your help to put on this awesome party (and fundraiser)! If you have any interest to help before, during, or after the event, please fill out this form, and we will find a task for you!
  • Party Hosts: We are still looking for families to host parties and events to be auctioned off, please fill out this form by Oct 1st.

PTA MEMBERSHIP and DONATION DRIVE (+ Popsicle Contest):

• *UPDATE* on PTA MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
• Total PTA members: Currently at 193 (up from 110 last week). Let’s bump that number up to 300+!
• Donation stats: $15,500 (~39% of our $40k goal) 
• TOP 5 Classrooms (by highest % of PTA members):
  • Ms. Luongo/Ms. McClellan (3rd grade, Rm 6) and Ms. Ngo (3rd grade, Rm 9) - 58%
  • Ms. McCullough (2nd grade, Rm 8) - 56%
  • Ms. Lumidao (2nd grade, Rm 7) - 50%
  • Mr. Mello (4th/5th grade, Rm 15) - 48%
  • Ms. Schaefer (5th grade, Rm 16) - 46%
• How do I join?
• For new members: 
  • Go to this link and click “Join with email”
  • Enter your name, email, and then create a password. Click “Sign up with Email”
  • For membership type, select “Parent/Guardian” or another appropriate option 
  • Check out with credit card. Membership is $12 (+$1 convenience fee).
• To renew your membership:
  • Log into Totem with your email and password
  • Renew your membership

• How do I donate?
  • Via Totem: When you become a member or renew your membership, you can add a donation
  • Via employer giving portal (e.g. Benevity): Search for “Amy Imai Elementary PTA”, Tax ID:77-0492242, and don’t forget to request a match!
  • Via check payable to “Amy Imai Elementary PTA”
