Kids have gone back to school, but now it’s time for parents to go BACK TO SCHOOL as well. Don’t forget to come to Back-To-School Night on Wed, Aug 28 to meet your kids’ teachers!

THIS WEEK’S HIGHLIGHTS:

• Back To School Night (Wed, Aug 28): Parents only; there are 2 sessions - 5:30-6 pm and 6:10-6:40 pm - which cover the same material. Come stop by the PTA and MVEF tables to learn how your donations and involvement directly support in-class educational enrichment and many memorable community events.
  • REMINDER: Wed, Aug 28 is a MINIMUM DAY - dismissal at 11:55 am
• Room Parents: Serve a valuable role as a point of contact between your teacher and parents, spearhead class parties and teacher appreciation events, etc.. If you’re interested, contact your teacher or let them know at Back-To-School-Night 
• Project Cornerstone: A great opportunity to be a positive adult role model, lead conversations on social emotional learning and building a positive community, and regularly volunteer in the classroom. EACH classroom (from TK-5th) needs 2+ readers. To express your interest, fill out this form. Additional details below.
• Fall Afterschool (M-F) Enrichment Programs: Lego Robotics / Snapology, Spanish, Chinese, Art, Mad Science, Tennis, Bollywood dance, Soccer, Basketball, Public Speaking, Speech & Debate… So many options all on campus! Check out the spreadsheet and sign up today, so we can ensure we have enough students to run these awesome programs.

PROJECT CORNERSTONE: 

• Amy Imai Elementary is proud to be affiliated with YMCA’s Project Cornerstone. The program supports the social emotional learning and well being of students through reading a book, followed by discussion and activities.. We are looking for parent volunteers to read once a month. Volunteers are able to build genuine connections with the students and find the experience to be rewarding. 
• What Imai students said: “I learnt how to calm myself down”; “I learnt to never give up”; “I try to be kinder because of what the books taught me”; ‘I like the fact that my mom reads to my class. I also like the books”. 
• If you are interested please fill out this google form and the leads will be in touch with you. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the leads at cornerstone@imaipta.org

FALL AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT CLASSES - Sign up today!

• Registration is open for After School Programs for Aug - Dec 2024. Bookmark this link and check it often for updates: https://sites.google.com/view/imaiafterschool
• For classes that are full, please register for the waitlist to indicate interest and they can add capacity.

PARENTS NIGHT OUT 2024 (PTA Auction & Fundraiser): We are excited to continue our tradition of family, teacher, and classroom-hosted parties. These parties are a fantastic way to support the Imai PTA and connect with our community. How can you help make this year’s event a success?

• Consider hosting a party or event (or two or three!) with another family or on your own. Sign up here today! Here are some ideas for inspiration - cookie decorating, pizza/movie night, family pool party, holiday mom’s party, karaoke night, and many many more!
