NEWS and UPDATES
from
IMAI ELEMENTARY PTA

April 26, 2023

Greetings Imai Parents! We've got several items for you to know this week... read on for more details about:

  • Supporting MVEF to support our kids' music & art
  • MVWSD Chess Tournament this weekend
  • Lost & Found is overflowing
  • Report your volunteer hours THIS WEEK
  • Mark your calendars for EAGLEFEST (May 19)

MUSIC, ART & MVEF: We hope you were able to attend this week's amazing music performances by our students! It was fantastic to see them sharing their musical and performance talents with us and gaining experience in front of an audience.
Music and arts curriculum is NOT standard in most California schools. We are privileged to receive the benefits of the Mountain View Educational Foundation which makes it possible to bring arts & music to all the schools in our district.
MVEF is supported by community grants and parent donations. Have you donated to MVEF yet this year? Show your appreciation for the music concerts, art programs, and much more, by donating here at the MVEF donations page.

The annual MVEF Gala is THIS SATURDAY EVENING, where you can enjoy food and drink and bid on silent auction items with other MVWSD parents and staff.  Find out more info about the gala on the MVEF website.

MVWSD CHESS TOURNAMENT THIS SUNDAY: The 20th Annual MVWSD Interscholastic Chess Tournament is this Sunday, April 30, from 11:30am to 5:30pm at Bubb Elementary. Students from all MVWSD schools are welcome to join and enjoy a friendly afternoon of competition and comaraderie! Registration form and instructions are here and the deadline for registration is this Friday. Email tournament director Jonas Klittmark with any questions.

REPORT YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS NOW, PLEASE! If you've volunteered at school in any capacity this year (PTA, walkathon, project cornerstone, book fair, in the classroom, etc.) please take one minute to add your estimated volunteer hours via our Google Form by this Friday, April 28. The hours are requested and tabulated by the PTA to maintain its nonprofit status. Thank you!

DON'T MISS EAGLEFEST: Mark your calendars for Eaglefest, our FREE, fun, amazing school-wide carnival on Friday, May 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. As always, we can only put on this event with the help of many parent volunteers. We do ask every attending family to take at least one 30- to 60-minute shift. Volunteer sign-ups are coming next week.

Have a great day!
