Thanks to everyone who attended this week’s 1st PTA Meeting. We value the voices of our parents and teachers, and the PTA is a great forum to get informed, ask your questions, and share your ideas.  And, thank you to all who have joined the PTA and contributed to our fundraising efforts. As we conclude our annual membership drive, here’s one teacher’s reflection on how your contributions to PTA directly benefit our teachers and students:

“I honestly and earnestly gush about our PTA-funded things constantly to LITERALLY ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN. Thank you PTA! Our ability to host cost-free field trips for our students, using PTA funds, is phenomenal. It ensures that every student, regardless of socioeconomic background, is able to participate in meaningful and memorable experiences with their peers. They may not remember every lesson of every day, but they do remember field trips.” - Ms. Ngo, 3rd grade teacher

THIS WEEK’s HIGHLIGHTS:

• PTA Membership Contest Ends Tomorrow (Sat, Sept 21): Join PTA today! Winners of the popsicle contest will be announced next week. Step-by-step instructions and Leaderboard for class Popsicle Contest below.

• MVEF Donation Drive: Great news! Across the district, we’ve hit the first $200k fundraising mark of MVEF’s $1.2M goal.  Click here to donate today Any gift, no matter the size, makes a difference. Check out this video to learn how MVEF impacts our students.

• Parcel Tax Measure AA: The upcoming Nov 5 ballot will include Measure AA to renew expiring parcel tax funding. 
  • Context: Per MVWSD, “Our District has relied upon voter-approved parcel tax funding to attract and retain quality teachers, support all students in rigorous academics, and maintain high student achievement for more than a decade. The funding was most recently approved in 2017 and is set to expire next year. Unless this source of funding is renewed, our schools are facing nearly $3 million in annual cuts to vital academic programs and salaries for teachers.” More information on the Parcel Tax Measure can be found here and in FAQ form.
  • Measure AA Campaign Volunteer Training: For those interested in volunteering with this campaign, MVWSD Trustee Laura Blakely has invited community members to a volunteer meeting on Th, Sept 26 at 4 pm at Mountain Mikes Pizza (with food provided) at 1724 Miramonte Ave

• Donation stats: $15,500 (~57% of our $40k goal) donated by ~70% of Imai families.

• How do I join?
• For new members:
  
  • Go to this link and click “Join with email”
  • Enter your name, email, and then create a password. Click “Sign up with Email”
  • For membership type, select “Parent/Guardian” or another appropriate option 
  • Check out with credit card. Membership is $12 (+$1 convenience fee).
• To renew your membership:
  • Log into Totem with your email and password
  • Renew your membership

• How do I donate?
  • Via Totem: When you become a member or renew your membership, you can add a donation
  • Via employer giving portal (e.g. Benevity): Search for “Amy Imai Elementary PTA”, Tax ID:77-0492242, and don’t forget to request a match!
  • Via check payable to “Amy Imai Elementary PTA”
