Dear Vargas Families,

From the record-breaking energy of our Readathon "reading machines" to the magical (and hilarious!) antics of Marc Griffiths and his puppets, our campus has been buzzing with excitement. We are so proud of our students’ hard work and so grateful for the community partners and "brave" teachers who made it all happen. But the fun is just getting started! As we look ahead to traveling the world at our International Festival and celebrating our planet on Earth Day, we have plenty of opportunities for you to jump in and join the team. 📖 Readathon Updates: Our students are reading machines! 📚

A huge round of applause to all our students for their incredible effort in logging reading minutes this past week. We are currently crunching the numbers and can’t wait to share the final results with you soon!

This "amazing week" wouldn't have been possible without our wonderful guest readers. A heartfelt thank you to our partners from MVPD, MVFD, the MV Public Library, MV City Council, the MVWSD School Board, and our fantastic Vargas parents. Your voices brought these stories to life!

🪄 Marc Griffiths Assembly

Laughter was the guest of honor last week! Our students and staff were treated to an unforgettable assembly featuring the incredibly talented Marc Griffiths. From mind-bending magic to his hilarious cast of ventriloquist characters, Marc kept the entire room in stitches.

A massive shout-out to our "brave" volunteers, Mr. Dechter and Mr. Green, for joining the act on stage—you were total pros!

🌍  Passport Around the World: Join Our 4th Annual International Festival!

We’re excited to announce that our 4th Annual International Festival will take place on Thursday, April 16 from 5–7pm! This special event celebrates the rich diversity of our school community and brings families together for an evening of culture, creativity, and fun. 

We’re looking for volunteers to help plan and support the event. If you’re interested in hosting a table or helping out, please fill out the survey link to let us know how you’d like to participate. 

Travel the world without leaving campus as we feature different countries through arts & crafts, food samples, and raffle prizes. It’s a wonderful opportunity for students and families to learn about and share traditions from around the globe.

We would love for families to host a country table and share something special—this could be a simple craft, small food sample, cultural display, traditional clothing, music, or a fun activity for kids. You can represent your family’s heritage or a country you love!

Let’s come together to make this year’s festival our most vibrant and exciting one yet!

We’re looking for four friendly faces to help facilitate our lunchtime activity on April 21. It’s a great way to meet new people, support the planet, and get involved in our Earth Day festivities.

🎨 Volunteer at the Art Show

Ms. June is looking for volunteers to help with setting up for the art show on March 26!

At the end of the school year, we hang a school-wide showcase of student artwork from every participant in the program. As you can imagine, that's a lot of artwork. To accomplish this goal, we rely on volunteers to help with installing the show.

🌍 Pasaporte Alrededor del Mundo: ¡Únase a nuestro 4º Festival Internacional Anual! 

¡Nos emociona anunciar que nuestro 4º Festival Internacional Anual se llevará a cabo el jueves 16 de abril de 5:00 a 7:00 p. m.! Este evento especial celebra la rica diversidad de nuestra comunidad escolar y reúne a las familias para una noche de cultura, creatividad y diversión.

Estamos buscando voluntarios para ayudar a planificar y apoyar el evento. Si está interesado en organizar una mesa o ayudar, por favor complete el enlace de la encuesta para dejarnos saber cómo le gustaría participar.

Viaje por el mundo sin salir del campus mientras presentamos diferentes países a través de manualidades, muestras de comida y rifas. Es una oportunidad maravillosa para que los estudiantes y las familias aprendan y compartan tradiciones de todo el mundo.
