Hello, Golden Owls!

It's wonderful to be back at Vargas! We missed seeing all of your smiling faces and were so happy to witness the excitement of the new school year and the reunion with friends this week. Since Jose Antonio Vargas Elementary opened in 2019, we've built a truly special community here. We're so excited to welcome our new Golden Owls and share our school spirit with all of you. We hope you had a fantastic summer full of memorable moments and are feeling refreshed and recharged for the new school year.

Update Your Konstella Classroom

To ensure you don't miss any important updates, please take a moment to add your student to their new classroom on Konstella. This is the best way to "meet" other families from your child’s classroom and stay in the communication loop.

• On the Web: Click your name in the top-left corner, then click "Your Children" to add or update your student's information.

• On the Mobile App: Tap the Settings icon in the top-left corner, then tap "Your Children."

Get Involved: Join a Committee!

The PTA is looking for volunteers to join a variety of committees. Getting involved is a fantastic way to support our students and school community. Whether you want to lead an event or help behind the scenes, we have a place for you!

We need help with the following:

• Student Assemblies: Help coordinate and run engaging assemblies for our students.

• Membership: Join the Membership Committee to help with our annual membership drive.

• Book Fair: Help organize and run our popular school book fair.

• Fundraising: Join the Fundraising Committee to plan and execute key fundraising initiatives.

• Walkathon: Help plan the biggest fundraising event of the year! Fill out the interest form.

• Event Planning: Assist with planning exciting community events like Movie Night, the International Festival, and the Winter Holiday Fair.

Afterschool Enrichment Classes

The PTA has teamed up with various providers to bring a variety of afterschool classes this fall. Schedules are being finalized and will begin the first week of September.

Upcoming Events

We have many fun events planned to kick off the new school year! Join us for these opportunities to connect and build friendships within the Vargas community.

• Welcome Back Ice Cream Social: Save the date for Thursday, August 21. Come celebrate the beginning of the school year with a sweet treat on the Vargas campus! Mingle with other Golden Owls and catch up with old and new friends.

• Can you help? If you would like to volunteer for one hour to scoop ice cream or donate toppings, you can sign up here.

• Parent Coffee: Join the JA Vargas PTA after dropoff at the MUR on Friday, August 22 to mingle with other parents. This is your chance to meet other parents, ask any questions you may have, and get to know your community more. Grab a coffee/donut and begin your day with fellow Golden Owls. We’d love to see you there.

• Vargas Movie Night: Get ready for a family-friendly night out! Join us for a PTA-sponsored movie on Friday, September 5.

¡Es maravilloso estar de vuelta en Vargas! Extrañamos ver todas sus caras sonrientes y nos encantó presenciar la emoción del nuevo año escolar y el reencuentro con los amigos esta semana. Desde que la Primaria Jose Antonio Vargas abrió en 2019, hemos construido una comunidad verdaderamente especial aquí. • Helado de Bienvenida de Regreso a Clases: ¡Reserva la fecha para el jueves 21 de agosto! ¡Ven a celebrar el comienzo del año escolar con algo dulce en el campus de Vargas! Convive con otros Golden Owls y ponte al día con amigos viejos y nuevos.

  • ¿Puedes ayudar? Si te gustaría ser voluntario por una hora para servir helado o donar ingredientes para acompañarlo, puedes inscribirte aquí.

• Café para padres: Acompaña a la PTA de JA Vargas después de dejar a tus hijos en el MUR el viernes 22 de agosto para convivir con otros padres. Esta es tu oportunidad de conocer a otros padres, hacer cualquier pregunta que tengas y conocer mejor a tu comunidad. Toma un café o una dona y comienza tu día con otros Golden Owls. Nos encantaría verte allí.

• Noche de Cine en Vargas: ¡Prepárate para una noche familiar! Acompáñanos en una película patrocinada por la PTA el viernes 5 de septiembre.
