Dear Vargas Families,

There is something magical about a week dedicated entirely to the love of books. Next week, March 9–13, we’re thrilled to host our Read-A-Thon, a time for students to challenge themselves, earn prizes, and simply enjoy getting lost in a good story. Between the Scholastic Book Fair and our cozy Family Reading Night on Thursday, it’s a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together. We’re also looking for a few helping hands for our upcoming Art Show and St. Patrick’s Day fun—read on to see how you can help make these events a success!

📖 We Love Reading!

Our annual Read-A-Thon is happening next week, from March 9-13. The aim of the Read-A-Thon is to promote literacy and a love for reading among our students, with a healthy dose of competition and prizes (and zero fundraising!).

Your student will be bringing a packet home this week (Friday, March 6) with details about the Read-a-thon week and a paper copy of the reading log. A digital copy of the reading log can be found here or visit the Read-a-thon website. For a digital copy of the flyer, click here.

Events of the Week:

📖 Family Reading Night, on Thursday March 12 from 6:00-7:00 PM, a fun way to earn reading minutes with teachers and staff, with hot chocolate and cookies. There will be an extra book fair shopping hour and a taco food truck starting at 5:00 PM.

📕 The Scholastic Book Fair will be open all week in the MUR. There are a few open volunteer slots still - we need your help! Please sign up here if available.

· Monday: 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM

· Tuesday: 7:30 AM – 8:30 AM & 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM

· Wednesday: 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM

· Thursday: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM & 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM

· Friday: 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM

🎨 Volunteer at the Art Show

Ms. June looking for volunteers to help with setting up for the art show on March 26!

At the end of the school year, we hang a school-wide showcase of student artwork from every participant in the program. As you can imagine, that's a lot of artwork. To accomplish this goal, we rely on volunteers to help with installing the show.
