JA Vargas Parents and Caregivers,

The PTA is working to prepare for a week-long appreciation for our hard-working, loyal, and kind-hearted teachers and staff. Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week (TSAW) is an opportune moment to express our gratitude towards the people we send our kids to for 6.5 hours a day, 30 hours a week for about 40 weeks of the year. In sum - that’s a lot of time.

 This year’s theme: Lights, Camera, Action: Recognizing Our JA Vargas Stars!

Below are the daily school-wide events we’ll be organizing for the teachers. Please note that individual classes will also be suggesting teacher-specific personalized events/gifting.

Sunday, May 5: “Marquee Mania” ALL GRADES design personalized doors for teachers and staff using movie marquee templates, Hollywood themes, or a door design with their names and favorite things. Door decor will be held from  3-6pm on Sunday, 5/5, however, we understand classroom teams might have to adjust based on scheduling, so please feel free to coordinate an earlier or later time with fellow kids/parents/caregivers. We ask that you primarily schedule on Sun. 5/5 to ensure that your hard work does not get vandalized or destroyed by windy weather over a longer period of time. Paper, tape, and sidewalk chalk will be provided. Please bring markers and any other pre-designed decor you want to add to your teachers' door. Pre-cut paper for the doors are available now and can be picked up at the front office. Here are the dimensions and samples of door decor from past years:

Monday, May 6: “Green Room Snacks per Diva Rider Contracts” Kindergarten and 1st Grade Snack Donations - if your child falls in these two grades, please feel free to sign-up for a specific snack to bring in to drop off at the front office on Mon., 5/6 on Konstella. The deadline to sign up is Fri., 5/3

Tuesday, May 7: “PA Delivered Drinks” 2nd and 3rd Grade Beverage Donations - if your child falls in these two grades, please feel free to sign-up for a drink item to bring in the morning of Mon., 5/6 on Konstella. The deadline to sign up is Fri., 5/3

Wednesday, May 8: “Fan Mail” ALL GRADES for teachers and ALL STAFF - please have kids and parents post on their respective teacher’s Kudoboard asap (you can find the entire list and links to each board here). I would also encourage parents and students to feel free to post comments on other staff and past teachers their kids have had. The more posts, the better! Boards will be sent on the morning of Wed., 5/8.

Thursday, May 9: “Golden Globes Luncheon” PTA sponsored lunch + ALL grades donations to chips, sides, beverages, and cookies. Please feel free to sign-up for an item to bring in to drop off at the front office on Wed., 5/8 on Konstella. The deadline to sign up is Tues., 5/7

Friday, May 10: “Celebrity Gifting Lounge” 4th and 5th Grade Treat Donations - if your child falls in these two grades, please feel free to sign-up for a treat donation to bring in to drop off at the front office on Wed., 5/8 here on Konstella. The deadline to sign up is Tues., 5/7

The deadlines indicated above are to help us plan for the ingredients of the event and to ensure teachers and staff receive their “celebrity” gifts on time.
