Hello Jie Ming Families!
Hope you and your family are safe and well. In the last two weeks, I kept thinking about how I, as a mom, an immigrant, a minority and an educator, can do something to help our community in this time of crisis. A few teacher friends of mine and I decided that we wanted to do a Learn Chinese and Support Social Justice summer program and I am reaching out to see if you and your child want to participate. Basically, we want to provide a high-quality summer camp for your child to learn Chinese with us, mostly in the areas of Chinese literacy and oral proficiency. We will then donate about 80% of the camp income to an organization/group fighting for social and racial justice (about 20% will be used to pay a minimum wage for instructors and cost of online learning tools). Each 10-hr session will be mostly virtual with one or two outdoor lessons with social distancing. Classes will be interactive and fun, with lively conversations interspersed with songs, videos, storytelling and games. The first session will begin the week of June 29 and end on July 10. The fee is $108 for the whole 10-hr session. Please see the qualification and background of our instructors on the camp poster. Most of us taught at Jie Ming in our career so we are quite familiar with the Jie Ming curriculum.
Are you interested in enrolling your child in our summer camp and helping invest in a safe, equitable future for all of our children and our city? If you are, please take 2mins to fill out a Student Registration Form and let us know more about your child's needs in learning Chinese so we can better design the camp for your child: http://s.12ab.pw/l/432 .
