End of School Year, Grab&Go Meals, and Census
Mon, Apr 20 5:27pm

Dear JBES Families:

Last Friday, Chancellor Ferebee announced that Friday, May 29th is the last day of school.  We will continue remote learning until then.  We can expect more information from DCPS about winding down this academic year and potential summer school opportunities in a few weeks.

Please spread the word that Grab &Go dinners are available Monday- Friday, 2-6pm, at Nats Academy (3675 Ely Place SE, WDC, 20019).

The DC Public Schools Parent University, hosted by DCPS's Communications and Engagement Offices, is hosting a series of free online workshops to support DCPS students and families during social distancing.  This week's session is "Helping Your Child Manage Stress" on Wednesday, April 22nd at 2:30 pm.   Register here.

Finally, a gentle reminder to fill out the census form if you haven’t already done so. The census count is key to determining our federal funding, including billions of dollars to support healthcare, schools, affordable housing, seniors and cultural programs in D.C.   Budget cuts seem inevitable with the city having to address Covid-19.  So, D.C.  need all the funding that it's  due based on the city’s resident count.

Have a great week!

Best,

Lynn C. Jennings
