The Village of Brookland of Traditional Public Schools

When I mentioned it at our November PTO meeting, there was interest in learning more about The Village of Brookland of Traditional Public Schools. One way to think of it is a community PTO of all of the traditional schools in our community, which includes Burroughs, with a goal of ensuring that all children in Brookland have the resources for a high-quality education and are receiving opportunities to thrive in their school and neighborhood. The group came out of a conversation with the Brookland PTO and their neighbors about ways to support each other and to cultivate a partnership between the school and the community.

You can learn more in an article that was written about the group last month, which can be found at http://thewash.org/2019/12/05/in-brookland-a-community-stands-behind-its-public-schools/If you have questions or are interested in being part of this movement, I can tell you more during the advocacy break-out session at Thursday's PTO meeting. You can also email thevillagofbrookland@gmail.com or attend the next Village of Brookland of Traditional Public Schools meeting on Wednesday, January 29 at Brookland Middle School's Library from 5:30-7:30pm.

Finally, The Village of Brookland of Traditional Public Schools is currently working on a Seed Campaign to raise $2,500 for a Matching Grant offered to our group. Donations can be made via https://bit.ly/2sJDZ0h.
