Woodridge Library Grand Opening Come celebrate the opening of the new Woodridge Library Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m. 10 a.m. -- Special Bilingual "Three Billy Goats Gruff" story time in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Participants can chose from a selection of books that spark curiosity and opens dialogue. There are 12 books on the reading list, from a diverse selection of authors, divided across four categories: Exploring American Politics, Unconventional Histories, Contemporary Challenges and Stories and Allegories. The diverse group of musicians brings their backgrounds in music ranging from mambo, rumba, samba, calypso, timba, jazz and afro-beat to move the bodies and spirits of the audience. Coming soon, the library will offer free proctored exams from NorthStar to help you get your certificate. In the meantime, do a self-assessment of what you know at any DC Public Library or from home. Oct. 8 – Cleveland Park Library will close permanently on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 5:30 p.m. in preparation for construction. Any holds not picked up by Oct. 8 will be moved to the Tenley-Friendship Library, 4450 Wisconsin Ave. NW. Oct. 10 – Library closed for Columbus Day.
