PTO Update

Dear JP Parent,

As the 2019-’20 school year comes to a close and my time at Johnson Park comes to an end, I wanted to reach out one last time with some exciting PTO news.

After PTO Board approval, a letter was submitted to the Princeton BOE regarding naming the amphitheater in Dr. Ginsberg’s honor before he moved on to his new position as Assistant Superintendent here in Princeton.  The request was unanimously approved on Tues., June 9, 2020. Therefore, I am honored, proud and pleased to announce that the amphitheater is now officially named:  The Dr. Robert Ginsberg Amphitheater

Dr. Ginsberg is the ‘heart and soul’ of Johnson Park and has served our JP community for 21 years.  Although we know he will not be far away, he will be missed more than we can imagine.  His foundation and legacy will continue to echo through the halls of JP for a very long time.  We wish him well in his new role and want him to remember he can always call JP “home!”

The PTO has purchased a Kanzan cherry tree that will be planted on the lawn by the amphitheater with a plaque placed by it honoring Dr. Ginsberg.  The PTO aims to unveil the naming at either the Fall or Spring Picnic during the 2020-’21 school year as permitted by health guidelines.

The PTO Board also approved the new slate for the 2020-’21 school year. The Board roles will be filled by the following:

Co-Presidents:  Lisa Robinson & Elme Schmid

Secretary:  Karen Zemble

Treasurer:  Anke Kinski

School/Support Services:  Kathleen Kraft

Community Services:  Naomi Rosenblum

I am grateful for all the PTO Board members who have served with me over the years and for countless volunteers who have made being involved at JP not only about giving back, but also about making lasting friendships and having fun. Enjoy the summer!

Be well and stay healthy,

Maria Maurer
