We had a great time with visiting author, Anica Mrose Rissi, today at JP. Grades K-2 saw her for the first presentation, where they learned about how she became a writer and even brainstormed a first draft of an original story together. Grades 3-5 saw her for the second presentation, where they learned how she revises her drafts until they become ready to publish, and were treated to a live reading of one of her spooky short stories by three wonderful volunteer readers (one each from grades 3, 4, and 5).
Thank you to our awesome librarian, Dawn Henderson. Thank you to the PTO and the Literacy Fund, especially parent volunteer Lisa Robinson, for facilitating this visit and for organizing the Scholastic Book Fair. (It has been a deliciously bookish two weeks at Johnson Park!!) Finally, thank YOU, parents and caregivers, for donating to the PTO. Your donations made these presentations possible.
