Cheers to An Amazing Year!
As the calendar turns to June, the end of year countdown begins at Johnson Park PTO. We have been so excited to be able to assist with and host so many events for JP’s students and staff. From the PTO’s Spring Picnic to Mr Hennessy’s Field Day to Koko’s Move A Thon there are so, so many great things to look forward to this spring. The teachers and staff are working hard finishing up curriculum and field trips. Quidditch games. Authors Workshops and Art Shows.
The PTO celebrated traditions put in place many years before at Johnson Park and new events that we hope to see year after year. International Night returned, and we celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr. with our first JP Day of Service. We chalked the walk to welcome the school year, hosted our first completely free Fall Picnic, welcomed trunk or treaters, and attended Princeton University Football (and basketball games!). Ran the Turkey Trot while donating canned goods to our friends and neighbors in need at the PMFP, and followed with a 5th Grade Baked Goods sale at Teacher Conferences. Hosted Garden State on Your Plate and learned how to Walk and Wheel safely to school from the Greater Mercer County Transit. We raised money for grade wide classroom educational residencies for each and every student at Johnson Park through parent and teacher hosted parties.
How could anyone forget our now famous Cereal Dominos where nearly 400 boxes of cereal were donated to our friends at Arm and Arm as we cheered from the halls of Johnson Park? Penny Wars brought out the best strategists and friendly competition - all for a good cause -our Koko Fund. We hung out with friends and classmates for Movie Afternoons. Project Joy spread some holiday cheer, the students dressed to impress with winning smiles for picture day. We hosted a wildly successful Spring Picnic - free to all JP community members and wow did you show up! We supported the Art Show and Choir Concert, and Orchestra Concert with accompanists and displays.
I want to personally thank every single one of you - parents, teachers, staff and administrators. Thank you for your support, patience, encouragement, creativity, ideas and passion. Thank you for your gifts of time and generous monetary donations that were turned into experiences and supports for all of our children at Johnson Park.
Also, extending a thank you to my fellow board members, Grace Wuertz, Cathy Kurpiewski & Jennifer Breaux for their limitless hours, endless patience, and incredible teamwork. I would also like to extend my gratitude to Lisa Robinson, Phil Arnold, Shae Cox and countless other tireless volunteers for their commitment to our students at JP. We can’t do this without an incredible village of volunteers. Thank YOU for being that village here at Johnson Park!
This year is my last as co-president of the Johnson Park PTO as I have served in this position for three years. As I step back from this role, it is with so many lovely memories, and new friendships. I look forward to seeing you at the wonderful JP and PTO events and activities next year- please say hello!
With gratitude and many thanks,
Brooke Cole
Co-President JP PTO

JP so special !
International Night a Success
After a few years hiatus, International Night returned to Johnson Park. We were blown away by the host families and their tables. We had table hosts from Italy, China, India, Korea, Australia, The Philippines, The Finger Lakes of NY and many many more. We would love to see your home country or region represented when this event returns in the fall.If you have pictures to share send them to us! Thank you to Deirdre von Roemer for breathing life back into this special event!
The garden at Johnson Park is ready for these warmer and sunnier days and so is our Garden educator, Ms. Gries. She has been introducing the students to growing peas - based on the book First Peas to the table which explores how Thomas Jefferson inspired a school garden! Hop over to Konstella to read more about her exciting initiative.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation
Teacher and Staff Appreciation week defied gravity at Johnson Park. Our hospitality team took it to the next level with Wicked themed days and spoiled our teachers and staff members. Not to forget Nurses Day and Admin Assistant Day for our ladies in the front office! Thanks to Deirdre Goodrich and Donna Graziano for these special days! Their support of our families and students makes JP so special - thank you Teachers and Staff!
2025-26 PTO Board
2025 - 2026 Executive Board for the Johnson Park PTO
Grace Wuertz will continue as co- president for her second year and Danny Allen, Jr. will join her as co-president. Danny was part of the Fundraising Committee this year at JP.
Manasi Shah will be moving into the Secretary position, and will be continuing to help with Events.
Veer Patel will round out the Executive Board as our new treasurer. This will be his first year on the JP PTO.
Celebrating Wonderful Instructional Assistants
The JP PTO was awarded an amazing grant for items to help our school. We chose to receive 25 umbrellas to gift our instructional assistants who often stand in the rain to greet our students each morning and return them safely to cars and buses in the afternoon. We are so lucky to have such a dedicated team! Thank you!
