Garden State on Your Plate is back at JP! 😋

This farm-to-school plate education program brings chefs and farmers into school cafeteria at mealtime to serve up sample sizes of very simple recipes made with seasonal and local produce.

The 2024 tasting dates are February 12th, and April 1st.

A local guest Chef or Farmer will be on hand to meet and chat with our JP students and introduce them to the highlighted produce each time. The JP cafeteria food service team will be supporting the program by prepping the produce for each of the tastings.

Our November tasting was with Chef Uriel Sandoval from D' Floret. Chef Uriel spoke with the children for approx. 5mins, introducing them to the produce and encouraging them to try it. Afterward, the children tasted roasted spaghetti squash and then applied fermented white pepper-infused salt. They could choose to add a Parmesan Vinaigrette. Chef Uriel asked the students to pay attention to how the salt-pepper and the vinaigrette each changed the flavor of the spaghetti squash.

Each tasting event  the JP PTO is looking for 3-4 volunteer parents who could help setup, serve the kids, reset for the next group in between and cleanup. Volunteers will be needed beginning at 10am until 1pm. It is an exciting opportunity to see your children in their school environment and to make this exciting initiative a success for all!

If you have 1.5 to 3 hours to give , please complete the sign-up form below!
