Responsible for the oversight of environmentally friendly practices at the school. Works together with the district-wide Green Team and its members from each of the elementary schools, the middle school and the high school to devise and implement best practices for sustainability. Responsibilities include the reduction of waste to landfill and sorting of waste into proper bins; the reduction of single-use plastic--bottles, straws, utensils, etc. and instead replacing with reusable items; composting programs; and the Terracycle initiative to recycle crayons, squeeze pouches, etc. Also works internally with the JP teacher partner to extend these efforts to teachers and students in their own classrooms. Finally assists in efforts to maintain the district's (and the school's) Green Certification as well as to help to develop a student-driven Green Team.
