Happy St. Patricks’ Day Kaiser families.
I hope you and your families are adjusting to these different times. I want to say, again, if you have any needs, or if you have anything you can offer in this time, please reach out.
Setting a routine, that includes both learning and fun/healthy activities is especially important right now. Your children’s teachers will continue to reach out with resources and is available as a thought partner in your child’s learning.
I will continue to record daily videos for our kids. Here’s a link to the latest, and a link to a doc with previous videos. If your child wants to share ideas, a shout out, or even a joke, please email me (email@example.com) In today’s video, I mention a cool art project, “Lunch Doodles with Mo” that is available here.
Although we are homebound, our dreams and learning are unlimited. Why not take a field trip to Mars, a walk on the Great Wall, or visit the Louvre today? Here’s a link to a bunch of exciting virtual field trips.
I want to give a special shoutout to Alonzo Hardin, our lead custodian, and Tremaine Carr, our evening custodian. They are both working, following “social distancing” protocol, providing a deep cleaning to our campus. While the income security and opportunity to do deeper cleaning work are silver linings, their presence on an empty campus illustrates inequities that we see locally and around the world. To say “thank you”, I am inviting you to treat them to lunch! You can buy a $25 Caviar gift certificate at this link. Send it to Dennis.Guikema@ousd.org with a note of appreciation for Alonzo and Tremaine that I will share. (Max $25, please. If we exceed the need, I will use these as staff appreciation later in the year.)
I’ll continue to reach out with Konstella messages each day we would otherwise be in.
~ Dennis Guikema, Principal.
