Hello Kaiser Elementary Families:
Over the past couple weeks, I have asked you for feedback on a survey form about how we are doing in service to you in these unprecedented times. I want to thank those who took a minute to get back to us. There was an overarching theme of gratitude to Kaiser staff for our support and communication for kids. Another resounding theme was the desire to bring our Kaiser community together when it is safe to do so, which is something our whole staff wants as well, and we will certainly make happen. We also heard some very helpful and concrete suggestions. I have compiled the feedback (anonymously) and shared it with teachers. We will do another survey in the coming weeks to gage our supports as they evolve.
Yesterday OUSD’s Chief Academic Officer, Sondra Aguilar, sent a message that you may have received in your email. This provides an overview of where we have been, where we are, and where we are going through the COVID-19 closure. I encourage you to read it if you haven’t already.
I am excited about the Oakland Slow Streets project. The city will be closing many streets to all but local traffic in order to create more space for folks to safely get outdoors. I went for a run this week with my daughter in the stoller and dog on the leash and shot my most recent Principal Shelter in Place Video for our students. Here is a link to a list of all past family messages and videos I’ve made for students.
The Kaiser Family Resource Page continues to be a gathering place for materials from all of our teachers, including art, music and PE. I encourage you to visit back often. Also, Toolbox, a curriculum we use for Socio-Emotional learning, is offering family webinars that you might be interested in.
I miss you all!
