Hello Kaiser Elementary Families.

I continue to be moved by our community’s response to this unprecedented challenge.  Here are some recent numbers of meals, technology and learning resources distributed by OUSD and more detailed information about the Monday and Thursday distribution of meals and other important needs.  Over 1 million meals have been served!

While we are managing on-line learning and making the best of the moment, we are also very busy planning for next year.   I will begin sharing more about next year’s planning for Sankofa United in these messages, knowing that many from our school community will be there and that others genuinely care about this development.   To date, 54 new families have accepted offers to Sankofa United with well over 100 students each from Sankofa and Kaiser coming.  This number will increase to a max of 314 students by the end of the enrollment period.   We will have a beautiful “blended family” and are busy planning ways to build community amongst kids and adults.

This is the time of year when all OUSD schools ask families to confirm their enrollment for next year. Please fill out this survey (if you did not already do so) if either of these are true:

  • You plan for your child to attend Sankofa United next school year; or
  • If your child will be attending any non-OUSD school (charter, private, out of district, etc.)

You do NOT need to take the survey if:

  • Your child is currently in 5th grade (going to middle school next year); or
  • You have accepted an “offer” to another OUSD school through the OUSD enrollment process.

If you are not sure… please take the survey.  I’ll follow up if there are questions.  :-)

I hope you and your family are enjoying this beautiful weather (safely, of course!)

I will be back Monday with another Principal Shelter in Place video for kids as well as another international video.
