California public schools are severely underfunded and many struggle due to lack of resources. California currently ranks 39th in the nation in per-pupil spending and has the largest number of students per teacher and the fewest counselors per student.
But in November 2020, we have the opportunity to reclaim $12 billion every year to ensure that our schools and communities have the resources to educate our kids and the services to support our families. The Schools and Communities First initiative restores funding for schools, first responders, parks, libraries, public transportation, health clinics and much more. It would provide an estimated $40 million dollars of new funding each year for Oakland public schools.
Join us in the Sankofa Elementary auditorium from 6:00-8:00 pm on Monday December 9th to learn more about Schools and Communities First. Ben Grieff, Campaign Director for Evolve California, will talk about this November 2020 ballot measure to close the corporate tax loophole on Prop 13 and bring billions of dollars in funding back to our public schools.
A light dinner and child care will be provided. Please RSVP to Marin Moran email@example.com for child care.
