Important 2020-21 Enrollment Information for ALL families
Sun, Nov 3 4:16pm

Hello Kaiser Elementary Families:

The enrollment window for OUSD opens this Monday, November 4.   I will be sharing info via Konstella and the Pink Panther about all options.   There is a lot in this message that is important to ALL Kaiser families.  Please read this closely, hold on to this information, and let me know if you have any questions.  You can find this message as a Google doc here.

OUSD Enrollment Process  (applicable to all).

Information about the OUSD enrollment process can be found at   Here are two helpful “1-pager” documents about the enrollment process and the online “SchoolMint” application.   Please remember that it is important to apply before the February 7 deadline, however there is no priority given for applying early.   I recommend using this time to research, visit schools, and weigh options. [Current 5th grade families can skip to the bottom of this message.]

Current kinder - 4th grade enrollment.

I encourage all families to consider all options to determine what is best for your family.   All kinder-4th grade families who do not complete the enrollment process will automatically be assigned to Kaiser-Sankofa (map).  If this is your plan, you do not need to complete the application process.

There will be nine weekday evening or Saturday morning information sessions at the Sankofa site during the enrollment window.   To find out more and to RSVP for a specific date, click this link.   There will also be opportunities to visit the school during Kaiser-Sankofa student and family mixer events.   [Please share this information with families of incoming kindergarteners or others who might be interested.

Information about all OUSD elementary schools is available at and at each school’s website.   Current Kaiser kinder - 4th grade students qualify for an “Opportunity Ticket”.  More info about that is included in the “Enrollment Process” one-pager linked earlier in this message.

Current 5th grade families (middle school-bound)

I highly recommend visiting any school you are considering.   All schools have (or will soon have) information about their tours on their website. and will also have information.   Claremont Middle School has a tour exclusively for Kaiser 5th graders and families on Wednesday, November 20th, from 8:45 AM - 10:00 AM.   I encourage all to attend: Claremont is one of the most popular choices for Kaiser families, and even if this is not a top choice for you, it provides a good basis for comparison.  We will alter our 5th grade schedule that morning in anticipation of most students being out. (No need to contact our office in advance if your child will attend, but please check in when you arrive to school later in the AM.)  Here is a flier with more information.

Thank you for taking the time to read this important information.   Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
