Hello Kaiser Community,

We are devastated to pass on this information that we just learned. Our beloved Adventure Time staff will not be going to Sankofa. This was a concern from the beginning of the talks of the closure.

Did you also know that these individuals are also our academic mentors providing in class support directly to students on a daily basis? Teachers depend on these individuals for classroom support.

Some examples of what they do for our students include:

K-yard supervision, one-on-one work and small group work with students

1st-small group work and one-on-one math and literacy support

2nd-small group, one-on-one math and literacy support, and social emotion learning support

3rd-small group work, one-on-one math and literacy support

4th and 5th-small group math/literacy/and writing support, and one-on-one support for students.

They also provide noon supervision on the yard during lunch recess.

Please keep the AT staff in your thoughts during this difficult transition.  Oscar has been at Kaiser for 21 years. He works the longest hours of anyone at our site, showing up for AT at 7:00AM and working until 6:00 PM.

Ms.Pearl has been at Kaiser longer than anyone, and she also will not be going to Sankofa. She is the elder of our community who provides practical assistance, but more importantly nurtures and grounds us all, caring for teachers, staff, parents, and students alike. These losses will surely be felt.

With deep sadness,

The Teachers
