Below is a transcript of a robo-call that will go out this evening.
Hello Kaiser Elementary Families.
Thanks for a GREAT first two weeks of school. I am really proud of our children for diving right into learning and creative endeavours. I’m proud of our teachers and staff for the strongest start of a school year I have ever seen. I’ll detail this more in Tuesday’s Pink Panther.
Meanwhile, I want to highlight some important dates in the coming weeks.
Monday (8/26), Yvette Rentiria will be at Kaiser at 6 PM to discuss the proposal to merge Kaiser and Sankofa on the Sankofa campus.
Wednesday (8/28) at 5:30 PM the Oakland Unified School District Board of Education will hear this proposal. The board is set to vote on this September 11.
Looking two weeks ahead, please remember that Monday Sept. 2 is Labor Day and all OUSD schools will be closed. The remainder of the week, Sept 3 - 6, Kaiser will have minimum day dismissal at 1:30 PM. On these days, Adventure Time will be available starting at 1:30.
Finally, back to THIS Monday (8/26) we will have an earthquake and fire drill at 9:15 AM. Anyone on campus at this time is expected to participate as though there was a real emergency. This drill is not a surprise, so feel free to talk to your children about it this weekend. I encourage you to talk about this in a calm way that reminds children that we are most safe when we are prepared. What IS a surprise, however, is that at the conclusion of the drill we will all be singing happy birthday to Ms. Pearl. Feel free to join us for this… but don’t tell your kiddos, and certainly don’t leak the secret to Pearl!
I will send a transcript of this message via Konstella.
