Below is the transcript of a robo-call going home tonight, Sunday, 3/15/20.
Hello Kaiser Elementary Families:
This is your principal, Dennis Guikema. As you know, as a precaution to help reduce the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, Kaiser Elementary and all OUSD schools will be closed through Spring Break. The current plan is to reopen schools on Monday, April 6.
During this time, I will be reaching out frequently to Kaiser Elementary families via robo-call and Konstella. I’m also going to record occasional YouTube videos to check in with kids. I’m going to send a transcript of this robo-call on Konstella, including a link to the first video in this series.
A number of students were absent Friday, and in most cases, teachers left behind work for these students. Please check in with your teacher if your child was out. I will be on campus, tomorrow, Monday, March 16, from 8 AM to 4 PM for anyone needing to pick up a packet.
We will be checking voicemail daily (at 510-549-4900). In addition to the resources sent home Friday, your children’s teachers will be available via email during this time and will be sending home additional resources periodically.
Over the coming weeks Kaiser, and all schools in the district, will be getting a deep clean.
During this time, all OUSD and PTA paid employees will continue to be paid, and we all remain in service to our children and community.
Difficult times like this hit some families disproportionately hard. Others are less impacted and have resources to share. If you have a need, or if you have something to share, please let us know with a call or an email. Also, please check OUSD.org for school sites where free food will be available during this time.
As a community, we will pull through the challenges of this time. Please stay safe and take care of yourself and family.
