We are thrilled to announce our parent volunteer candidates for the PTO Board for the 2021-2022 school year!

The entire slate of nominated candidates must be approved or rejected. Individuals may not be removed or added to the Slate. If the Slate is rejected, a new slate will be presented to the KMV PTO members in a new election.

BOARD MEMBER BIOS

Julie Johnson (Incoming): Co-president. My husband and I are proud parents of two silly boys, one in preschool and one who will be in 2nd grade. I am a Certified Pharmacy Technician, who in the past few years obtained my MBA and transitioned into the business side of healthcare. I am a fan of Star Wars, Harry Potter, cooking (eating), crocheting, and traveling. The last two years I have had the opportunity to volunteer and attend some of the events put on by the PTO board and fell in love with the school’s community of students, staff, and families. I am a huge fan of the Apex event, book fair, STEAM fest and of course, take-out Tuesdays! I am excited to jump in, come together, and collaborate with each of you and to make this coming year another memorable one, the Monte Vista way!

Lora Roscoe (Incoming): Co-president. My sons are excited to continue their education at KMV as an incoming 2nd grader and Kindergartener. We have lived in the valley 10 years and decided to relocate to Ahwatukee two and a half years ago for its beauty, sense of community and above all the excellent schools. My versatile professional background in Marketing, Operations, Sales and Communications has given me the experience to be a liaison. In previous years I have served on various boards as President, VP, Treasurer and Secretary. I have an Education and Communications degree from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While in college I substitute taught in the Clark County School District primarily at the Elementary level. The firsthand experience helped me get a better understanding of all the administration, teachers and committees do to facilitate the learning process. I look forward to assisting Monte Vista in continuing to provide a well-rounded environment to our children and families.

Kate Bitowf (Incoming): Co-vice president. My name is Kate Bitowf and I grew up in Scottsdale, AZ. My husband and I have been married for 14 years, and our son is a proud Monte Vista 2nd grader for the 21-22 school year. I graduated from ASU in 2008 with my BA.E. in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English, and briefly taught 9th grade English in the Scottsdale Unified School District. I transitioned to the corporate world about 10 years ago and currently I co-manage a pricing team of 27 for a large food distribution company. In addition to my role (pre-Covid), I chaired the event and community impact committee for my company and have coordinated countless associate and community volunteer opportunities. Some of my proudest accomplishments included hosting the largest food packing day to date for St. Mary’s Food Bank as well as an employee appreciation and engagement event for more than 750 associates. Our family located to Ahwatukee from Scottsdale 3 years ago, and we have loved getting to know our neighbors and Monte Vista community. I am very much looking forward to the opportunity to volunteer and continue the traditions of the Monte Vista PTO this school year!

Desire Lopez (Incoming): Co-vice president. Hello! My name is Desire Lopez. I have a son in first grade at Monte Vista, a daughter starting preschool in August, and a 6 month old son. After the chaotic year we just had, I vowed to do more things that bring me joy, and fulfillment. I have always wanted to contribute more to my children’s school activities. Working my 8-5 job made it extremely difficult, so I recently started my own insurance agency in order to be more involved in my children’s lives. I volunteered for my son’s holiday kinder parties, which sparked my interest in the PTO, and I am excited to contribute to this wonderful organization! I am looking forward to meeting new people, teachers, and being more active in the Monte Vista community!

Colleen Eyssautier (Incoming): Co-treasurer. I am the parent of a future second grader and kindergartner at Monte Vista. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a MBA both from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I am originally from a tiny town in Nebraska but have lived in Arizona on and off for over 13 years. I have spent most of my career in corporate finance developing and monitoring budgets. I currently work for Ferguson. I have been able to volunteer with the MV PTO over the last 2 years and was co-chair of the Reading Wall during the 2020-2021 school year. I find volunteering with the PTO extremely rewarding and love seeing the kids’ excitement during the events / activities that the PTO helps support. I also have been able to meet many great staff and parents through my volunteering experiences. I would be honored to be a part of the 2021-2022 PTO board.

Rhonda Grayson (Returning): Co-Treasurer. My name is Rhonda Grayson and I’m a native to Arizona. I grew up in Tuba City, in northern Arizona. I have a Bachelor’s in Business/Public Administration and a Master’s in Accountancy, from the University of Phoenix. I’m currently an Enrollment Manager with the University of Phoenix and have been with the university for over 12 years. Prior to the University of Phoenix and before I was married and started a family, I worked in the event marketing industry and traveled 100% of the time working with a variety of clients, from Best Buy, Sony, Microsoft, The Learning Channel, McDonald's, and more. My husband and I moved back to the valley in 2006 and we now have a daughter currently attending Kyrene Centennial Middle School and my son is currently in 4th grade here at Monte Vista. We’ve always been a part of the Kyrene school district; this is our second year with Monte Vista, and we love it. I’m excited to support the PTO and families of Monte Vista.

Shannon De Atley-Johnson (Incoming): Co-secretary. My family and I are thrilled to be part of Monte Vista and the Ahwatukee community. While my kindergartener only started Monte Vista in March, we have been quite impressed with the passion and involvement of the teachers, kindness of the community, and beauty of this part of town. My husband's job brought us back to Arizona a little over two years ago. We had spent the two previous years in California. Upon returning, we were looking for the perfect community to call home and we finally found it! I am the Vice President of Events for a nonprofit association in San Jose, California. I travel back for a few days each month to facilitate our events, which range from intimate board meetings to our large-scale forums and summits bringing in 1,000+ attendees. I oversee event logistics, marketing plans, speaker coordination, revenue generation/sponsorships, and more. I have been involved in event management for 15+ years and absolutely love it. Everything moving to virtual events last year really threw a curveball, but I love a good challenge and can now add virtual event management to my resume. I know it takes a village and I am thankful for the PTO volunteers who have committed their time and energy to ensure the students and teachers have a wonderful experience. I would love to be a part of that and contribute to this community.

Katie Eagan (Returning): Co-secretary. After hearing so many great things about Monte Vista and knowing several Mountain Lion families, we are very excited to be a part of the KMV community. I am a proud mom to two very active and fun boys. My eldest is a Kindergartener and my youngest attends Children of Hope across the street where I have served on the board for the past few years. And when I am not running after my boys, I am chasing the latest Sports or Entertainment story in my “other life” as a TV reporter. I attended the University of Arizona majoring in Journalism, with a minor in Spanish before zig-zagging across the U.S. to pursue my career. But when we started our family, it seemed only natural for my husband and I to return to Arizona to be closer to our families. We love being involved with the close-knit Ahwatukee community from school to sports and extra-curricular activities and we know and appreciate that it takes A lot of hard-working, dedicated, energetic, and giving people to make great things happen for the kids and we are happy to do our part for the team!
