The beach clean-up has been postponed due to poor air quality. We will reschedule this event when air quality improves.
Please join us for La Scuola's second school-wide beach clean up and bonfire at Ocean Beach!
Meet us at 3:30 at stairwell 15 for cleaning. First grade parent Kristin Reed will lead the clean up. We will collect data, and analyze and discuss our findings after cleanup.
The bonfire social with snacks will follow at 5 p.m.
PALS and the Community Service Learning Committee will be providing supplies (gloves, bags).
Please wear La Scuola t-shirts, hats, and hoodies if you have them, so we can all recognize members of our school. Bring plenty of extra layers as it may be cool, windy, or foggy at Ocean Beach!
We also recommend bringing your own reusable water bottle to show your love for our planet.
We will have water for refills.
Please RVSP by October 21st, so we can plan appropriately.
This beach cleanup is a community service activity organized by PALS; it is not a field trip. We kindly ask all adults participating to ensure full supervision of children they bring to the event. Ocean Beach can be dangerous, with sneaker waves and rip currents. There are no lifeguards on duty. During the beach cleanup activity, we ask all adult participants to remain at or above the high tide line to minimize risk and to ensure that children under their supervision do the same.
Beach parking can get a little difficult, so we encourage folks to park in Golden Gate Park or take public transit (the 5 Fulton bus runs right to Ocean Beach as does the N Judah train) and stairwell 15 is a short walk from the end of either of these lines. If it's foggy, there will be plenty of parking.
We will need a few volunteers to help with the event - stay tuned for a sign-up
