🐬 Dolphin Digest 🎃 Halloween Edition
Sun, Oct 27 5:05pm

Dear Lafayette Community,

I'm still smiling from the Autumn Carnival. Seeing our schoolyard transformed into such a celebration is so magical! A few photos from the day are toward the end of this newsletter. Help us capture the memories by sharing your photos here.

Halloween week is upon us! Read on for info about how to volunteer -- we still need more hands to set up the day before Halloween, and then on Halloween day, we need people to volunteer to run games as each class visits the Halloween Celebration that the PTA provides for the school.

Please remember: Lafayette is a nut-free zone. So please make sure those Snickers, Reese's and others stay safely at home.

🎃👻 Halloween Celebration - Volunteers Needed👻🎃

We are SO excited to celebrate Halloween this Thursday (10/31) in the schoolyard! Each class will visit the festival for fun games, activities, and prizes between 8am - 2pm. We are still looking for volunteers to help with the following areas to make this a fun day for all students:

  • Setup
  • Games & activities
  • Cleanup

You can view more information and volunteer to sign-up here on Konstella.

Additionally, all classes will participate in the Halloween Parade from 10am - 11am in the schoolyard and then circle the block. You can view more information about the Halloween Parade here.

🎬 Save the Date - Lafayette Movie Night - Nov 16th

Join us for a night of free family fun on November 16th as we turn our school yard into an outdoor movie theater. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, popcorn and any other snacks you'll need to get you through the evening. Be sure to arrive early and snag the best seat in the house!

Stay tuned to find out what movie we'll be watching, but rest assured, it'll be a good one for the whole family.

🏐 New After-School Sport - Volleyball!

Starting Wed, Nov 6th
Volleyball with college athletes is starting soon! All grades and levels are welcome and it's fine if you've never played volleyball before. Classes are on Wednesdays, 12:55-2:00pm.

Sign up on Homeroom.

🗳️ Voter Info - Proposition Endorsements from California PTA

For the November 5, 2024, Statewide General Election: California State PTA, or CAPTA, takes positions on statewide ballot measures that have the potential to significantly impact the lives of California’s children, youth, and families.

CAPTA supports each of the following four measures slated for inclusion on the ballot for the November 5, 2024, Statewide General Election.

  • YES on Prop 2 - $10 billion for school bonds
  • YES on Prop 3 - Marriage equality
  • YES on Prop 4 - $10 billion for climate protection
  • YES on Prop 5 - Affordable housing

Studies were undertaken to research the content, background, impact, and PTA authorities associated with each ballot measure; links to these study reports are shown on CAPTA's website, along with links to the ballot measures as posted by California’s Secretary of State.

Download the PDF of CAPTA's 2024 Ballot Measures Flyer to share and advocate locally.

Seeking T-Ball Players (and Coaches)!

Lafayette parent Jack Goggans is working to organize two t-ball teams for the SFYBL season, with registration starting November 6th.

Looking to form a t-ball team and a "coach-pitch" team for Kindergarten and 1st Grade kids that know how to play already. Jack is available to be an assistant coach, but both teams would need head coaches as well. Reach out to Jack if you're interested!

"It’s no surprise that older people have a harder time taking care of their homes. Whether it’s weeding, clearing clutter, cleaning hard-to-reach areas, flipping a mattress, seniors often don’t have the strength, energy or stability to handle these chores.

"That’s where 'One Hard Thing' comes in. One Hard Thing, a project of the Golden Gate Village (GGV), matches able-bodied volunteers with Village members needing help with the difficult chores they cannot handle on their own... [READ MORE IN RICHMOND/SUNSET BEACON]"
