🐬 Dolphin Digest 🐬 Autumn Carnival, Halloween Approach!
Sun, Oct 6 9:27pm

Dear Lafayette Community,

Apologies for the very late Sunday newsletter! Maybe it'll go well with your Monday commute/coffee?

So many people have stepped up in the couple weeks! Volunteer power gave us the magic of Donut Dash last weekend (read on for results and pics). Folks have also been raising their hands to help with lunch duty, lost & found, and reading with students. Kids and grown-ups showed our custodial staff lots of love for their appreciation day.

And this weekend, a solid crew of parents staffed the Hardly Strictly parking fundraiser to raise thousands of dollars to support our school (details and pics next newsletter). Truly amazing! Let's keep it up... With so many ways to help, there's room for everyone.

PTA Fundraising: What to Expect 2024/25. Donut Dash and Annual Give Campaign are happening now. There are 2 more fundraisers in Spring.

In case you're wondering how many times you might ask your people for funds this year, this is what to expect: 4 fundraisers, with 2 happening in Fall (Donut Dash and Annual Give) and 2 next Spring (Read-a-thon and Gala/Auction). Hope that helps with planning, and THANK YOU for any/all contributions!

📖 Seeking Volunteer Readers! Give Extra 1:1 Help to Students

Back by popular demand, it's Lafayette PTA's Volunteer Reader Program! Last year, at the request of our teachers, we arranged for volunteers from the Lafayette community to come and read one-on-one with certain students. We heard rave reviews from the teachers, so we're doing it again this year!

Could you be a Volunteer Reader? Good news: All you need is patience and 30 minutes once a week, and you're qualified for this role!

Sign up to be a volunteer reader!

📷 Lately at Lafayette

The Donut Dash was SO MUCH FUN! Huge thanks to everyone who ran/walked/rolled, everyone who volunteered, and especially to Kate Scott for making the whole thing happen! An event with so many moving pieces in Golden Gate Park is NOT easy to organize, even though Kate made it look that way once again. 👏👏👏👏👏

Lafayette Neighborhood Trick-or-Treating Map - October 31

When: Thursday October 31st, 5-8:00pm

Where: Richmond District

This year’s 🎃 Halloween Trick or Treating 🎃 encourages our students' love of costumes (and treats!) while building friendships in our community.

Visit houses in our neighborhood instead of the craziness of Lake street and Hellvedere, and encourage community bonding (as well as exercise). Here's how:

  1. Fill out this form by the end of the day Friday, October 11th, to be added to the address list, map, and suggested route.
  2. Prepare treats you'd like to leave out for Trick or Treaters to take. Savory food, water bottles, and non-food items also welcome!
Decorate a bowl of treats (nut free!) to leave on your porch if you plan to be out walking the route.
  3. Keep an eye out for the address list and map in your email on Friday, October 18th.
  4. On Thursday, October 31st, set your labeled treat bowl out by 5:00pm.
  5. After an early dinner, print out the address list, map, or suggested route, don your costume, grab a tote bag and a flashlight, put on your walking shoes, and head out to enjoy our neighborhood decorations along with some treats! Hopefully you'll see friends along the way.

The Trick or Treating might continue well after dark, but our route will most likely wrap up by 8 p.m. so we can put our treat bowls away before bedtime. The earliest Trick or Treater gets the first pick!

Please email us at atimandatiw@gmail.com with any questions.

Thanks!
