From August 21–Sept 4, Lafayette families can enjoy an exclusive discount on back-to-school essentials, fall sports gear, shoes, apparel, and more, in-store or online. Even better, your purchases give back 10% to Lafayette Elementary, helping support the programs and activities that make our school community so special. Use the coupon or code LAFAYETTE at checkout.
🥟 Lafayette Multicultural Night Market is on Sep. 23 - What dish will you bring? 🥟
The 3rd edition of the Lafayette Multicultural Night Market is almost here. Mark your calendars for Wednesday, September 23 from 6–8 PM and help us make this the best Night Market ever!
Last year was a huge success. We were outdoors with beautiful weather, delicious food (70+ dishes), fun activities, and lots of community spirit (100% of classes represented).
This is a free event, but it does not happen without you! We need potluck dishes and event volunteers — from setup and cleanup to food service and activities. I know we can meet (and beat) this year’s goal of 75 dishes and 6 activity tables.
This is a family affair! Feel free to bring grandparents into the mix, and if you’ve got a middle schooler or high schooler, this is a great way for them to get those volunteer hours.
Please sign up by Wednesday, September 16 so we can plan accordingly.
Le and Jessica, the Multicultural Committee co-chairs, will be out in the yard on Friday at drop-off. Stop by, say hi, and sign up!

🏃♀️➡️ Register NOW for the Donut Dash - It's happening on Sunday September 27th! 🏃♀️
Get ready because our beloved Lafayette community event, the Donut Dash, is just around the corner. This is a 5K and 1 mile run/walk in Golden Gate Park. It's also a fundraiser for our school. It will take place on Sunday, September 27th. The 5K starts at 8:30 am and the 1 mile starts at 9:15 am. The starting/finish line is at Blue Heron Lake (just down from the boat house). All runners will be rewarded with a donut (or allergy-friendly alternative such as a Rice Krispie Treat). Tee shirts will be available to participants on a first come, first served basis and there are no size guarantees. This event is open to everyone, so be sure to extend the invite to your friends and family outside of Lafayette.
To Register: Online registration is open NOW. Sign-up online by visiting this website: https://runtheday.com/register/detail/lafayette-elementary-donut-dash-2026
To Fundraise: This is also an optional fundraiser. To fundraise, you can create a fundraising page here: https://givebutter.com/donut-dash-2026. Click "Make Your Page" and follow the prompts.
If you have any questions, you can always email us at donustdashsf@gmail.com.
The top fundraiser and the top runners will receive a prize (so start training!) but EVERYONE will leave having had a great time!
Can't wait to see you all out there.
The Donut Dash Committee
🥤 Help Us Stock the Staff Lounge for the New School Year! 🥤
As we kick off a new school year, the Teacher Appreciation Committee is seeking donations to stock the staff lounge with everyday essentials so we can focus on providing fun treats and surprises throughout the year.
If you can help, please sign up via this Google Doc. Items can be dropped off in the staff lounge located on the 2nd floor (middle of the hallway) or shipped directly to the school.
🎒 Lafayette Lost & Found 🎒
Please be sure to label all of your child's items with their name. When items appropriately labeled are lost, a team of volunteers will sort them and get them back to the appropriate classroom. Items that are neither labeled nor claimed will be donated. The Lost & Found is located outside of the music room, which is next to the Auditorium.
🚦 Stop Drop and Go: Volunteers Needed 🚦
Our drop off program, Stop Drop and Go, needs volunteers to sign up to help! If you're available before school in the mornings, please sign up on Konstella here.
Throughout the year, grown ups from each classroom are called upon to volunteer for SDG. To see when your child's class is responsible, check out this schedule.
🙋 Call for Room Parents! 🙋
If you would like to support your child's classroom and teacher, please consider signing up to be a Room Parent. Details on what the role entails can be found here.
Hello Dolphin Community!
*Please note that we are aware of an issue where some SFUSD emails are ending up in folks’ spam folders. We’ve alerted the Department of Tech, and await a resolution. In the meantime, please regularly check your spam folders.*
We had another wonderful week at Lafayette! Thank you to our students, staff, families, and volunteers for continuing to bring such positive energy to our campus.
A special thank you to the family volunteers who have supported Stop, Drop, & Go over the past week. Your help makes morning arrival safer and smoother for everyone. We need continued family support to keep this program running successfully, so please consider volunteering!

Upcoming Assessment Windows
-
Throughout September, our Kindergarten teachers will administer the Kindergarten Readiness Inventory (KRI). The KRI is a brief assessment that helps teachers better understand each student’s early skills and strengths as they begin Kindergarten. The information gathered helps teachers plan instruction and identify ways to best support each child’s learning and development. The KRI is completed as part of the regular school day and does not require any special preparation at home.
Lost & Found
-
Next time you’re on campus, swing by the lost and found near the auditorium to see if you recognize any of your student’s belongings. Don’t forget to label EVERYTHING.

Highlights & Bright Spots
Our students are doing a wonderful job settling into the new school year and showing what it means to be Safe, Respectful, and Responsible members of the Lafayette community. With several new students joining us across all grade levels, it has been especially heartwarming to see returning students demonstrate such an inclusive spirit, inviting new classmates into games at recess, welcoming them to sit together at lunch, and helping them feel at home in the classroom and across campus at Lafayette.
A big shout-out to our teachers and staff for intentionally teaching, modeling, and reinforcing the expectations that help our students thrive. Maintaining the warm and welcoming community we all value takes all of us, and our students are already doing their part!
