First and foremost: THANK YOU!
|
I first want to say how amazing it has been to see everyone come together to provide support to our teachers, staff, and each other. I am so incredibly grateful to be a part of the Lafayette community.
|
So many helpful resources have been created to enable families to ask for or provide support during the strike. I've received spreadsheets of camps and classes, food bank info, and playdate sign ups via text, in WhatsApp groups, from all over.
To centralize all resources available to families, I have created an primary aggregated document of resources available to families during the strike. You can find it here. I have also included resources to help talk to your kids about unions and strikes, a directory for WhatsApp groups that exist for families to connect directly, free lesson plans and free things to do around the city with kids. This list will be updated regularly throughout the strike as more information becomes available.

The information we have is only as good as our community's access to it! We need help ensuring information gets to our families whose primary language is not English.
We already have a WhatsApp group for Spanish speakers, as well as a WeChat group for our Chinese community (to join, click here and scroll down to the directory). We need volunteers to set up group chats for families who speak other languages besides English, Spanish and Mandarin, especially if you speak Arabic or Russian.
If you speak another language and would be willing to create a WhatsApp group and help us recruit community members to join it, please reply to this email. You would be helping to ensure that our entire community is connected and that we all have access to the same information!
