Dear Lafayette Community,
Our community is already buzzing with activity in 2025! Signups are LIVE for a bunch of events you won't want to miss. There's the Lunar New Year Parade on Balboa Jan 18th, Family STEAM Day on Jan 22nd, and Lafayette Night Market on Feb 12th. Read on for all the details!
For those who missed it last week, here are the slides from the January PTA meeting. And we hope to see you at the next PTA meeting on Feb 12th. That one will be an hour early at 5PM so everyone can make it to the Night Market at 6PM. Sounds like a fun Wednesday evening to me!

After a multi-year break, we are excited to bring back our Multicultural Night Celebration at Lafayette! Come connect with the community and the many cultures represented by sharing food and participating in fun activities.
We’ll have dumpling-sized bites representing cultures from around the world and different activity tables with arts and crafts.
We hope you’ll join us for a wonderful and delicious evening!
Food and Event Volunteers needed
For more info on the Lafayette Night Market email co-chairs Jessica (jheting@gmail.com) or Le (le.michelle.klein@gmail.com).
Thank you ALL in advance for your participation and time. We cannot wait to bring this special celebration back to our community!

🤖 Family STEAM Day - January 22
|
Join us at Lafayette on Wednesday, January 22nd at 1:15 for an afternoon of fun and interactive activities involving Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math!
The school day will end at the typical Wednesday time: 12:50pm.
- Students who are not in after-school programs must be picked up as usual at 12:50pm, and families are invited to attend the event with their students. Until the event starts, you are welcome to spend time in the schoolyard (grownups are responsible for supervising their kids).
- Students in after-school programs will also have the opportunity to attend the event with their program staff.
|
Grown-ups are needed to VOLUNTEER as "explainers" at the stations. This is a fun volunteer gig where you get to help kids interact with the activity at your station. No special skills required! Please sign up right here.
Questions? Please contact Ms. Tong (tongr@sfusd.edu), Lafayette's STEAM teacher. Thank you for organizing this, Ms. Tong!

Lunar New Year Good Luck Parade - January 18
|
Lafayette is invited to be a part of something truly special – the first-ever Lunar New Year Parade in the Richmond District, taking place on January 18th from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM, along Balboa Street between 35th and 39th Avenues.
Students and parents can be in the parade together. It's easy to participate. We'll just meet in the Lafayette schoolyard, and when our turn comes, our group will be walking, enjoying the music, and waving our green pompoms to celebrate the Year of the Snake!
To participate in a parade team with Lafayette, please sign up here! You'll receive the specific meetup time and details soon.
With any questions, please contact Angelachenbiggs@gmail.com, who has enthusiastically stepped up to coordinate Lafayette's group!
