It's the week before Spring Break! This will be a short week with Friday off, but we're going to have a lot of fun. Tomorrow kicks off Spirit Week with Pajama Day. (All themes below.) We'll all be on time to school since everyone can skip changing out of PJs in the morning, right? Well played, Student Council.

PTA Leadership for 2025/26 - Nominations are open for potential leaders for a bunch of on the PTA Executive Board for next school year:

• President
• Executive Vice-President
• Secretary
• Financial Secretary
• Vice-President Communications
• Parliamentarian

Personally, I (your friendly VP-Communications 👋) have found it to be incredibly rewarding to serve on the board. I was hesitant to jump in at first, but I'm so glad I did. A lot of us are moving on due to term limits or kids going to middle school 🥲, so we'd love to see YOU step up, whether or not you've been involved so far.

Please fill out this form to nominate yourself or someone else. Elections will take place at the next General Association meeting on April 9th.

Gala and Auction - It's just over a month away! We need YOUR help. Plan an epic Count-Me-In* with friends, or pass along restaurant, hotel or retail connections for our auction. Donate items or activities here to support our auction! Please donate by April 10th.

From Lafayette's Student Council: March 24-27 is SPIRIT WEEK! Come to school dressed to these themes, and be as creative as you want to be!

• Monday = PJ day
• Tuesday = Lafayette Spiritwear/Lafayette branded clothes/blue & white (school colors)
• Wednesday = kids dress as adults and adults dress as kids (for example, suit & tie for kids)
• Thursday = Back to the Future (wear clothing that is from the past or is futuristic)
• Friday = NO SCHOOL!

Session 2:  April 11 to May 30th
 
Wheel Kids Bike Camp session 1 is coming to a close and in order to run Session 2, they need a few more sign-ups!

Does your child love to ride bikes? Or do they want to get better at riding? Sign up for Wheel Kids! It's our new after-school bicycle club on Fridays right after school. They will pick your child up at Lafayette, explore the many trails in Golden Gate Park, teach new biking skills, and then drop the students back off at Lafayette for pickup. And if you don't have your own bike or equipment, Wheel Kids can provide it.

This is a fantastic opportunity for colleagues, friends, and family to enjoy America's favorite pastime. Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 4th, and help us celebrate Star Wars Day at the ballpark! Don't miss out on the fun! $5 of every ticket sold will benefit Lafayette Elementary.

Lafayette Girl Scouts Troop 62428 helped beautify and clean up the area around the school and the Balboa Avenue business corridor this past weekend. The second and third graders braved wet and windy weather and filled three bags with trash, cigarette butts, and empty cans. The troop also voted to donate some of their proceeds from recent cookie sales to support the Lafayette PTA! Thank you, Girl Scouts!

As we mentioned previously: The families of 5th graders will soon be looking for ways to celebrate as their kids complete the final year of elementary school. 😢 Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for how to celebrate them?
