Hello, everyone,
And just like that, it's the final day of the Lafayette Read-a-thon! With this gorgeous, sunny weather, why not take a book outside for the afternoon? đ
Remember, every minute of reading or being read to counts. Simply turning in a completed reading log counts as participating!
With reading logs due in classrooms by Friday, March 14th, and donations due that same day, there’s still time to reach out to (or remind) friends, family, and neighbors for pledges or lump-sum donations.
Remember, participants can earn some fabulous prizes:
- ALL participants get a special prize: blue Read-a-thon slime!
- Top participating classes also get an additional prize!
- Individuals with the most minutes or most funds raised get the above prizes PLUS a book signed by our visiting author, Oliver Chin! (Top readers and raisers in Grades 3–5 will also have a special group meeting with snacks or lunch with Oliver.)
Lost your forms? Extra copies are in the school library. Also available online here.
For those of you who are fundraising, thank you! We're already up to $16k! We couldn’t have special experiences like the author visit without your support.
- Create your student's page to fundraise online - easy to share far and wide, and you can skip the paper pledge form!
- If using the paper pledge form, special instructions for PayPal donations: Please ask sponsors to forward the PayPal receipt email to LafayetteReads@gmail.com and mention the student’s name, grade/teacher, and Read-a-thon. Why? Our PayPal Giving page avoids fees so 100% of donations go to the fundraiser, but that page cannot collect notes to help us match donations to our readers.
- Other payment options: You can also include checks (to “Lafayette Elementary PTA”) and cash with your completed forms.
Happy reading, Dolphins! We hope you've enjoyed some extra special reading time this week.
Claire Mooney, Patricia Wada, and Meghan Butler, Read-a-thon Committee
P.s. We're loving all of the comments on the online fundraising page! Friends and family are cheering on their readers with messages that are sweet, funny, and inspiring.
