Hi Families!
I hope you all had a great long weekend. I wanted to send a quick update on the fires.
There is some chatter going around on the yard this morning that there was an arrest made in the arson case this weekend. (Thank you to the parents who attended the SFPD Community Meeting!)
I just spent an hour brushing off my investigative reporter skills (thanks SFSU School of Journalism!) and was able to confirm that the arrest they made was determined to be UNRELATED to the playground fires.
There was a fire in Sutro Heights Park over the weekend that was more of a houseless individual/camp fire situation. There was an arrest made during that incident. But both fire investigators and police confirmed they do not believe this individual was related to the Lafayette and Lincoln playground fires.
If you would like to check in on progress yourself, these folks are very helpful: (listed in order of how helpful they are). But I did just spent an hour bugging them, so maybe give them a breather.
