A Safety Reminder About Parking and Stop, Drop, and Go

A friendly reminder to all Lafayette families about our parking and arrival and dismissal expectations. We know that drop-off and pick-up can be hectic, and we appreciate everyone doing their part to keep the process safe and moving smoothly for our students, families, neighbors, and staff.

The safety of our students is always our top priority. Your support in following our drop-off procedures helps ensure that all students can arrive at school safely and that our buses, families, and neighbors can move through the area safely and efficiently.

We have been in regular communication with the SFMTA throughout the year about the ongoing traffic challenges around Lafayette. Despite several weeks of reminders in our newsletters and in person about using our Stop, Drop, and Go procedures, we continue to see unsafe traffic situations during arrival.

Today, for the first time, SFPD was present during arrival to help remind families to use Stop, Drop, and Go and to redirect vehicles that were double parked or blocking our designated bus loading zone. SFPD and SFMTA have shared that they will return to support safe drop-off when available in the future.

Please remember:

  • Use Stop, Drop, and Go for quick morning drop-off.

  • Do not double park, even for a brief period.

  • Please keep the bus loading and unloading zone clear so buses can pull up safely and students can unload curbside.

  • If you need to park and walk your child in, please find a legal parking space rather than stopping in a travel lane or designated bus loading zone.

We recognize that parking and traffic around school can be challenging, and we truly appreciate your patience, cooperation, and partnership. Following these expectations helps us create a safer arrival for everyone and ensures that our students can start their school day safely.

Thank you for partnering with us to keep Lafayette safe!
