I'm done! ..and can you pretty please do one last thing??
Tue, Jun 3 3:50pm

Hi Everybody,

I had planned to write a quick but heartfelt goodbye letter, thanking you all for the MANY hours of stepping up and showing up for the PTA  and our community at large during my last two years as president. I had already silently celebrated being retired from sending last minute emails asking for your help.

But guess what? I was at the school today and I realized there was one last thing I had to do as president, and it's something we all tell our kids to do 437 times a day: CLEAN UP AFTER OURSELVES.

We did so many amazing things this year, but to be honest, we kinda made a mess. From our explosion of a lost and found, to our boxes of handmade play props to the stacks of extra printouts and leftover beef jerky in the PTA office, to all the fun field day games, we've got some stuff to put away and THROW AWAY.

Not to mention we are temporarily without a storage space, so we need to get creative (and be extra organized).

A large dumpster is arriving at the school tomorrow, WEDNESDAY at 11 am. I need a BIG CREW of people who can help me move stuff. We have 3 storage areas to purge and reorg.

TIME: 11am-3pm
Meet in the yard.
Arrive when you can, but if you come at 11 am I will love you forever.

We'll split into groups and tackle:

THE STAGE

THE BASEMENT STORAGE ROOM

THE SECRET OUTDOOR STORAGE CLOSET (I never knew about this, but it's filled with decades-old junk, once it's empty, we can use it!)

Together we can tackle this final spring clean and start next year better than ever. Then we can all head to the park and drink lots of canned wine.

And now...thank you! And "goodbye"! It really has been such an honor and pleasure to serve as PTA president these past two years (and VP before that, and membership chair before that...). All those click-bait articles on "how to be happier" are completely true: getting out, volunteering, and working alongside others really does make being a human being these days much more tolerable. I highly recommend it!

And if you are one of those people who have been wondering: How can we thank you for your years of tireless service to our school?? My answer is: Come haul junk with me tomorrow! It will be our swan song!
