LAFAYETTE FIELD DAY is 36 hours away!! Some logistics and reminders for the day's events
Tue, May 26 10:13pm

Dear Lafayette Families & Community,

FIELD DAY IS ALMOST HERE!!!! 🎉WARNING - A LOT OF USEFUL DETAILS BELOW

Here are some last-minute details and reminders from the Field Day Committee to help Thursday run smoothly for everyone:

📦 Supply Drop-Offs
We will assign tables on the south (Balboa) side of the schoolyard by grade for any potluck supply drop-offs. Signs will be set up around 7:30 AM.

🚶 Walk to the Park
Classes will walk down together to Hellman Hollow with teachers and parent volunteers starting at 8:30 AM. Classes start heading back around 12:30 to 1 PM.

🌤️ Dress for ALL Richmond Seasons
I don’t think anyone living on the West side needs this reminder...Please send your child (and you) dressed in layers and wearing sunscreen! The forecast calls for partly EVERYTHING, with one site saying it may rain. The wind might be calming down from today (maybe?), and luckily, we're in a somewhat sheltered area in Hellman Hollow. I was in GG Park today and the gusts were present but muted, at least compared to the Great Highway, where it was ridiculous.

🪑 Grade Table Assignments
Each grade has assigned picnic/folding table areas in the park. Please refer to the attached map to see where your child’s grade will be located. We’ll also have signs posted at the tables to help everyone find their area.

🗑️ Trash & Cleanup
Please use the Lafayette waste bins placed throughout the grassy area instead of the park trash cans. We will be packing out all trash at the end of the event. If you are volunteering or hanging out with your class during the day, please help us keep the meadow clean by picking up any trash you see. Let’s leave Hellman Hollow even better than we found it!

🏥 Field Day Headquarters
Our HQ will be located near the bathrooms and stocked with extra trash bags, paper towels, gloves, and other supplies.

⚽ Bring family-friendly picnic items!
Students are encouraged to bring soccer balls, footballs, frisbees, etc. Adults can also bring chairs, tents, and anything else that can be of use at a family-friendly picnic. Just make sure you take out what you bring in!

👋 Leaving After the Event
You are welcome to take your child home directly from the park after the event — BUT PLEASE MAKE SURE TO SIGN YOUR CHILD OUT WITH THEIR TEACHER BEFORE LEAVING.

If your child is not leaving with you, they will walk back to school with their class.

And finally…

🎉 HAVE FUN!! THAT’S MANDATORY 🎉

We're looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday!!

— Your Field Day Committee

P.S. We'll have a table set up again in the schoolyard tomorrow (Wed) morning if you have any questions or concerns. We'll have a sign taped to the table with 'Field Day Q+A'. The main question we got from students this morning was 'What does Q+A mean?'
