Hello Lafayette Community!

WOW. What a day.

When the cancellations started rolling in first thing this morning we didn't know how it was going to turn out — but this community absolutely showed up for our kids.

So many people went above and beyond to help make the SCHOOL DAY happen despite all the last-minute changes, adjustments, pivots, and weather-related chaos. It was truly inspiring to watch our community come together to create such a special day for the students.

A HUGE thank you to our amazing teachers and staff, who did MUCH more than they should be asked to do on a Field Day. Your flexibility, patience, humor, and willingness to jump into absolute chaos WAS INCREDIBLE! Thank you as well for sharing your classrooms and spaces with all of us throughout the day.

Teachers and staff — please let us know tomorrow if anything is out of place, missing, damaged, or needs attention and we'll address. 

I continue to be amazed by this community’s ingenuity, creativity, generosity, and willingness to step up under pressure. Today was such a powerful reminder of what makes Lafayette special.

We also look forward to NEVER doing this at school again 😄

Lastly, we found a few items left behind by families today — hoodies, jackets, backpacks, coolers, canopies, etc. — and we’ll move them to the school Lost & Found area (outside the music room, close to the northeast entrance) as we come across them.
