One the best ways to show your appreciation for a teacher is by covering their yard duty or recess duty. This gives them an opportunity to relax during one or more of their shifts during Staff Appreciation Week.
If you would like to do so, please see the shifts listed below. Each shift is only 20-25 minutes! If you have any questions about yard duty (where to go, what to do, etc.) please contact Shan @ 408-390-0524 or Tara @ 408-250-7269.
AM YARD DUTY 7:55am – 8:10am
RECESS YARD DUTY 10:05am – 10:30am
PM LOT DUTY
Primary 2:10pm – 2:30pm
Intermediate 2:40pm – 3:00pm
(*1:35pm – 2:00pm on Tuesdays)
If your child’s teacher shift is already covered, you can covering another teacher’s.

Reminder for volunteers:
All district requirements must be COMPLETED and VERIFIED before your first time volunteering on campus during school hours/in the classroom. Please go to https://www.cusdk8.org/
New Volunteers:
Summary of requirements:
- TB Test (valid within 4 years of test read date)
- Fingerprinting through LiveScan (CUSD contracts with the UPS Store at 2784 Homestead Rd, Santa Clara, for a discounted rate)
- Volunteer Agreement Form (at website above - click on Lincoln)
Returning Volunteers:
- Complete the online volunteer form that must be submitted every year, even if you are a returning volunteer who was cleared in past years.
